Connecting Datalayer lets you ask research questions directly in your AI app. Some apps call this a connector, integration or MCP server. MCP is simply the connection method those apps use to reach services like Datalayer.

Before you start

Sign in to the Datalayer dashboard with your approved account. You also need an active profile allowance to search or open profiles.

Follow the guide for your app

Open the installation guide. It includes instructions and availability notes for supported AI apps. Some connections are still being tested; a listed app is not a guarantee that its Datalayer integration is ready. For apps that support a remote MCP connection, the usual steps are:
  1. Open the app’s connector or integration settings.
  2. Add a connection named Datalayer.
  3. If asked for a server address, paste the address below.
  4. Sign in and enable Datalayer for your conversation.
If the app asks for an API key instead, follow its section of the installation guide. An API key is a private access code from your Datalayer dashboard. Enter it only in the app’s secure credential setting, not in a chat message.

Check the connection

Your app should show four Datalayer capabilities: finding companies, opening a company profile, finding people and opening a person profile. Their technical names are search_companies, get_company, search_people and get_person. Checking the connection and listing these capabilities does not use profiles. When ready, try an example question.

If it does not work

Individual app connections and full production lookups are still being verified during private preview. There is also a known issue reconnecting the same app after disconnecting it in the Datalayer dashboard. If this happens, use dashboard Support and tell us which app you use and what the error says. Do not keep disconnecting and reinstalling it. Never send your password or API key. Replies appear in the dashboard without email notifications.
